We had to wake him up Christmas morning. This is his morning face.
So, another Christmas has come and gone. Again it was a wonderful time spent in the company of people I love. Oh, and lots and lots of wrapping paper. People say that Christmas is for the children. I have to disagree. Sure the magic of Santa, the anticipation of all the gifts, the extra goodies and getting to stay up late, is more for kids. Maybe it is because I am still a kid at heart but I love the holiday just as much as I did as a kid, but for different reasons.
I love when I know I have picked out the perfect gift for someone. I get more excited about people opening a gift I got them, then opening my own. This is why Demian and I give each other most of our gifts before Christmas has even arrived.
I love our little traditions. Every family has them. It can be a certain dish that someone makes for the holiday, or a particular gift that is given every year. These little things make me happy. Here are a few examples: Demian will always get me something warm. I think he gets tired of me complaining about being cold. My dad will always put scratch tickets in our stockings. This year no winners (boo), and we always get Almond Roca and Chocolate Covered Cherries.
I love the time spent with family and friends. It seems our lives are so busy that often we don't take time to sit down and enjoy each other enough. As hectic as Christmas is, it seems like we all put a little more effort into seeing people and spending some time together. It is during this time that I am reminded of how thankful I am for the people I surround myself with. Not because they give me gifts on a certain day, but that they love me.
I think this year Atticus has really figured out that Christmas time means people bring him gifts. Lots and lots of gifts. A few gifts this year have already made it to the top of his fun list.

Wow!!! Atti had quite a Christmas. Can't wait to hear the drum practice next time I come over.
Oh my goodness. I didn't know he also got the Buzz Lightyear car! And I really like that an alligator lives under his bed.
