What Happened To My Face.

Parenting 101- Do not put heavy objects up high where your child can pull said object on his/her head.
Mama Landerholm-F

Here is the short version of the Snowman vs Atticus night.

Atti, Demian, and Gina downstairs.
Atticus in living room, D and G in guest room sorting presents
Demian and Gina hear thud, followed by serious hysterical crying
Crying
Screaming "My head, My Head"
More crying
Blood
More blood
10 lb solid steel snowman stocking hanger with stocking attached on floor instead of mantel
More crying and blood
Relief at no stitches and no trip to local hospital
Cuddling on couch and neosporin
Crying (Mama Landerholm)
Atticus exclaiming " What happened to my face" when he looked into the mirror.

After a night of feeling guilty about putting something up that caused so much pain for my little guy I realized a few things. We are lucky it didn't land on his eye. We are lucky he has a strong head. And, we are lucky that this is his worst injury to date. There are a lot of parents with children who have serious health problems, or injuries. Some of these parents are our friends and family. I admire their strength, because there is nothing worse that seeing your child suffer.

Lots of lessons learned in one night.

Good call on being thankful that the evil snowman didn't fall on his eye, but I can't help but think that he would look pretty bad-a with an eyepatch... Just saying! :)

Loved that story. When we lived in Camas (yes, weirdly enough when I was three, we actually lived two blocks from where Jarred and I now live- this was before my dad started working for DODDS) we had this threashold that my sister kept tripping over. She spent about 5 months with various bloddy lips before my dad finally fixed the thing.
