Tuesday we headed up to Marysville to celebrate Grandma Hatley's 94th Birthday. Can you believe it? 94! Sometimes I wonder how I got to 32 I can only imagine what she must think of 94. Grammy might be the youngest 94 year old I know. She still lives alone, never seems to get sick, and continues to make the best chocolate chip cookies EVER. In fact I am eating one now. Cookies, however are not her only talent. She is a very accomplished seamstress, and just mere 3 years ago at 91 she hand made my beautiful wedding dress. She was not able to make it to our Maui wedding (she's not a big fan of warm weather), but by wearing a dress that she hand made, it was like a little bit of her was there with us. I really can't imagine all the changes she has seen having been on this planet almost 100 years. When I think about all the changes that have occured and major evens she's witnessed it's amazing. I can't remember what we did before cell phones and internet, but she was there when people started to drive, and TV's were a novelty, a time when not every house had a phone, let alone phones that you carry with you and that you take pictures with. She cooked before we had microwaves and automatic dishwasher. There were no tv's, video games, mp3, cd, or computers. When she was little a lot of homes didn't even have indoor plumming. EWWWW, imagine that. To think I complained about not having a master bath. This list could go on and one, and the concepts are mind blowing. I just wonder what my grandkids will be amazed by, when they hear what I have lived with out. I truly feel blessed to have her as my grandma and that Atticus has her as a great grammy. She really is exacty what you would expect a grandma to be like, right down to the homemake cookies! Happy Birthday Grammy, We love you!
