My Resolutions

I have a few new year's resolutions and one of them is to blog more.

Not that I have a huge blog following, but I know I love it when others update their blogs. Plus, it is always so much fun to look back on all the things that have happened over the years.

Here are a few of my resolutions: To make healthier decisions. Compared to the average American I feel like we live a pretty healthy lifestyle, but  there are always opportunities to make healthier decisions. I got an exercise bike for my birthday, so that will defiantly be a part of this resolution.

The other is to create more. I have a creative side, but I often don't make time to do anything creative. This is all about to change. I may not turn into Martha Stewart, but  making things always makes me happy. It could be a new recipe or something crafty.

More fun stuff with Atticus. This will go hand and hand with the creating. He loves to participate so any kind of project we can do together is a plus. I have no idea how long this wild curiosity will last, so I better enjoy it now. Something tells me he won't want to help me make banana bread in 10 years.

One of my recent discoveries has aided in me creating more. It is a website called Pintrest.
Pintrest is a site to catalog things you find interesting on line, and a way to access them again simply. You also get to see things others have "pinned". A lot of my recent creating has come from Pintrest.

I thought I would share of few of the things I have done recently. Hopefully I can keep up this trend.

Cranberry infused vodka

Christmas gifts. They looked beautiful and festive.
Homemade Play Dough

We went to Kenzie-Ben's house the other night to make this play dough. Another Pintrest find. It is colored with Kool-Aid, a product I never thought I would buy. To our surprise it turned out great. Softer than the store bought dough, and smelled yummy. I will be making this again for sure.

 DIY LAUNDRY DETERGENT

I have been wanting to make this for some time now, but I had to search for some of the ingredients. All totaled the ingredients seen above set me back about $20. I could have skipped the OxyClean, it was the most expensive but with a messy kid, I went for it. It takes 1-2 tablespoons per load so it will last forever. The site I found claimed she does about 8 loads per week and it lasted 9 months. Not only is this super cheap, but now I  don't have to keep buying plastic jugs of detergent. There are no perfumes or dies in it either. Cheap and green, just my style. I did a few loads yesterday and everything came out clean and smelling good.

I'm on a roll now, so stay tuned for more blog posts about being healthy, creative, and hanging with my kiddo.

Yeah - love more blog posts! I can't believe we forgot to take pictures while making the playdough. Guess we were too busy talking while the kids weren't helping : )

I'll be interested to hear more about the laundry detergent. I have been changing brands a lot to find something I like and so far no clear winner but I'd love to find something cheaper and with less smell.

Keep on creating!

Great resolutions! Always look forward to more blog posts :) I need to take a que from you and blog more as well. Also trying to "create" more in 2012 -- stay tuned on that front. My One Little Word for 2012 was going to be "create" but then I was having a stronger desire for the word "active". I'm sure I'll write a post about that soon too!

What did the vodka taste like?

@ Sarah- I didn't taste the vodka. I made three bottles as gifts and none for myself.
