Panda-monium

Today was a great day. Sure the weather wasn't as nice as it was yesterday, but Atticus and I had a lot of fun together. When I found out that Po (the main character in Kung Fu Panda) was going to be at the Woodland Park Zoo today, I knew Atticus would love it. I was a tad reluctant because recently our outings together have been plagued by meltdowns. I know these episodes are typical for his age, however having had a few back to back, I wasn't excited about experiencing another. But, Atticus' love for Fu Panda outweighed any doubts I had, and I was on board with our visit with Po.

We haven't been to the Woodland Park Zoo since last summer, and for the first time I think Atticus really got into seeing all the animals. We got there early so we could visit all our favorites before seeing Po. The penguins were by far his favorite. I think it's because they are active and just a sheet of glass separates you from them. Atti and another boy who looked to be about his same age kept cheering on these sweet birds. We also managed to squeeze in visits to the hippos, giraffes, and farm animals.

Then it was off  to  the Zoomazium, the indoor playground and info center to wait for Po. He was way bigger than I had expected, and super friendly. Because I am a crazy person, and we were in the Zoomazium 15 minutes before his arrival, we were third in line to get our picture with him. Atti ran right up to him and gave him a big hug. I think he wanted to stay and chat it up with Po, maybe learn a few moves, but with dozens of anxious kids behind us, it was snap your shot and go.
It looks like Po is so excited to see Atticus

It was a great day, just the two of us enjoying an adventure together. Not meltdowns, no tears. I'm not sure who had more fun, Mama or Atticus.

Love it!! So glad you guys got to go since Atti loves Po so much. As you saw yesterday meltdowns happen to everyone and no one likes them.
