Our Big Night Out

Demian and I just celebrated our 5th Anniversary. Last year we celebrated by going to Mt. Rainier. This year we decided to stay a little closer to home. Downtown Seattle. It seems kind of silly to stay in a hotel that is less than 20 miles from your house, but it was so worth it.

We both love Seattle, but never seem to make time to really enjoy the city. We usually have an agenda when we go downtown, and always seem to have to rush back. Not this time. We were able to just wander around at our leisure.

We checked in to the Warwick which is a beautiful old hotel downtown. From there we walked down to Pike Place Market. It is always amazing to me how many people are at the Market even in the middle of a week day. We enjoyed a yummy lunch at Emmet Watson's Oyster Bar. For those who love oysters this is the place. It's tucked away in the back of the market, and it really has an old school fisherman bar kinda feel. Did I mention the yummy oysters? We had raw and broiled ones and I would recommend them both.

This little trip of ours was largely driven by food, as are a lot of things in our lives. We love good food. After stuffing ourselves with oysters we hit up DeLaurenti. It's the perfect place to pack for an upscale picnic. Gourmet meats, cheeses, wines, breads. We got a little of everything for a late night snack back at the hotel. Here is to stinking up your hotel room with some ripe cheese.

We ended our night at Chandler's Crabhouse on Lake Union. We had some amazing food there too, and happened to run into an old friend, who hooked us up with some complementary dishes.

We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful state, and so close to such a beautiful city. I am glad that we took this time to appreciate a little of what Seattle has to offer.

And, thanks to Grandma Ellie who stayed with a little certain someone, so we could enjoy some adult time.
