Paula was at my house on Wednesday and noticed this picture on my little bulletin board. We were laughing about how long ago this was, and how young we were. I happened to turn the photo over and written on the back was Aug. 20, 1995. Exactly 15 years ago today. It was the last photo taken of the three of us before I started at WSU.

Carol and my dad were driving me over, and since the three of us were virtually inseparable at the time, they came along for half the trip. We drove as far as Moses Lake spent the night at a hotel together, then said our good byes and I kept going on to Pullman. We also were traveling with two Japanese exchange students Mariko and Fumiko.

My transition from high school to college was a difficult one, and part of that was me missing my friends from home, mostly these two characters. Jess headed off to Western about a month later, and Paula stayed in Marysville. These two places might as well have been different countries for all I was concerned. They felt like a million miles away to me.

Luckily my homesickness wore off, and I made some new friends, and my old friends came to visit. Plus I realized how fun it was to visit Jess at Western and party with her new friends too.

But even after all these years, and living in different places, and leading different lives, there is nothing more fun to me than spending time with these two. When we get together it still seems a little like 1995. A little part of us hasn't changes a bit, and we are able to laugh together just as hard as we always have. I love these ladies and can't wait for the next 15 years.

Purple leg!! I forgot the Japanese exchange students were along for the ride as well. Crazy. I miss that tie-dye shirt. So does Jerry Garcia. RIP to both. We've aged well, if I do say so myself :)
