Sound of Music and Good Friends

There is nothing quite like a Sound of Music Sing-a-long, and nothing quite like getting together with old friends. I got to do both on Saturday night. Sarah, Colleen, Carrie and I all became friends at WSU and since then, life has taken us all in different directions. Colleen and I live really close, but Carrie lives in Federal Way, and Sarah lives down by Portland. With busy lives, work, and families, it's hard for us all to get together often. Colleen came up with a great idea that we get together and go see The Sound of Music at the 5th Ave. downtown. I myself have NEVER seen The Sound of Music, but I figured any time the four of us get together good times are had, so why not?

The girls had brought up the idea of dressing up as characters from the movie. I thought this was just some crazy idea and had no idea that LOTS of people came dressed up. There was even a costume contest before it started. We were also all under the impression that this would be a production of the Sound of Music, with live actors and audience participation. WRONG. This was a screening of the original movie, with the words to the songs printed on the screen for the audience to sing-a-long with, and props to use during the show. Another thing I was not aware of is that this movie is REALLY REALLY long. But I have to admit it was fun. I think the fact that we got to be a little active during the movie, and there was lots of laughter, helped me enjoy it that much more. Plus, I got to spend the evening with some great friends, and that's always a good time.

Sarah was the only one who remembered to bring a camera, so I don't have a picture from that night. I thought instead it would be funny to throw some pictures up here of us back in the day. Please keep in mind that this was over 10 years ago and fashion has changed a lot. We sure did have some good times back then, and I look forward to more good times to come, even if they happen a little less often.

I traveled a lot with these ladies, and we always had a blast.

I still have that bead curtain.

I think this was Carrie's 21 run.
Is there such a thing as a 41 run? We've already passed 31.

Bangs were cool

Someone should have NEVER let us have bangs. What a bad idea and did we ever NOT have beers or alcohol in our hands?
