One of Atti's cutest qualities has always been his wild hair. It really goes a long with his wild personality. At times he has looked like a beach bum, and sometimes when he first wakes up he looks a little like a cross between Phil Spector and a Dr. Seuss character. A few months ago his bangs were getting in his eyes, so Demian gave them a little trim. There is a lot of curly hair in Demian's family, and like his dad, Atti's hair gets curly when it's long. Something about the golden locks in the back is just so darn cute. We did however notice that the sides were needing some taming. He had developed these wild wings that refused to be tucked behind his ears. We talked about giving them a little trim too.
Next thing I know, D has the scissors out and blond hair is a flyin'. I think it is physically impossible for Atticus to hold still. He doesn't even stay still in his sleep. It just can't be done. Every time Demian tried to snip, Atticus would turn or try to run away. Well, the sides got trimmed alright, but it looked a little like it had been done with hedge clippers. What we had on our hands now, was a classic mullet. Business in the front and party in the back. There is only one solution for the mullet, and no I don't mean running of to be a "carny". Cut the back off. So that is what Demian did. Golden curls gone. What is left is a short, fairly crooked hair cut.
I am wondering if it is some kind of right of passage for children to suffer a bad hair cut at the hands of their parents? I clearly remember Demian describing a crooked bang cut from his youth that ended with bangs that were way too short. Although I don't remember any home hair cuts myself I do know that I rocked some pretty awful hair styles back in the day. Luckily Atticus is the cutest kid ever, and no botched haircut could diminish that.

Don't worry McKenzie will still love him!
Dude! That WSU track suit is money! Throw a gold chain around his neck and he's a gangster from Jersey!
Maraya said she would have stuck with the mullet - but you know she is a little stuck in the 80s!
Having been responsible for the botched haircut (there was more than one) on poor D, I can say this looks waaaaay better. Hard to clip a moving target!
