Good Bye Taj

I think I am finally ready to write this post. This has not been easy.  We recently had to let go of our sweet Taj. His nickname, was Big Pup, and it sure was fitting. He was the largest of dogs, but he never seemed to lose that puppy quality. He was big and sweet and goofy. Sometimes it was hard to remember that he was 8 years old, which is old for his breed.

Taj was a rescue pup from a pound in Everett. Demian took one look at his goofy face and just had to have him. I wasn't as keen on the idea of a third dog, but once he was ours, I never looked back. He was just so darn sweet. Otis and Marley liked him too, and he was part of the family instantly. He had a quirky personality. His tail wagged in a circle instead of back and forth, much like a propeller. It would have been perfect in the water if only he could swim. He couldn't. At all.

Taj would eat ANYTHING. When we lived in Mountlake Terrace and had an abundance of tomatoes in the garden he would eat those, along with the overripe fruit that felll in our yard from the neighbor's tree. He also love to chase me, and for some reason only me, around the yard. His energy came in spurts, but it was always fun to watch him get "wild" as we called it.

There are a million things I loved about Taj, and just as many great memories. We didn't have him around as long as we wanted, but we loved the hell out of him while he was with us.

His first day with us. Man was he skinny.

Sweet from day one

He loved to cuddle

Man's best friend for sure.

Oh Gina :( Taj was such a sweet dog! I'll miss him when I come over to visit. How are the other dogs doing? What did you tell Atti?

The other dogs are doing good. I think because Taj kind of distanced himself while sick, it wasn't such a shock. We told Atti that Taj was sick and had to go away. Not sure if it was the best way to explain it, but I was at a loss at that time.

Love the picture of Taj and Atti - he truly was the sweetest soul! He will be missed when we come to visit.

My friend Megan lost her dog of 13 years suddenly last week. For some reason, your news about Taj and her news about Cocoa really bothered me. Made me realize how much we really love our pets.

I love these dogs like crazy. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it because it sucks so bad when they die. However, I can't imagine ever not having a dog in my life.
