Annual Kid Fest @ Entiat

Carrie, Colleen and I have been friends since my sophomore year at WSU. That was the year that I decided that I was going to have fun in college, and they, along with our friend Sarah were a huge part of that. Back then it was easy to spend time together. Everyone lived within walking distance of each other and our free time was endless. Fast forward 14 years and things have changed. With kids, jobs, hobbies, and miles between us we see each other a lot less.

Colleen had been thinking that it was a shame that we don't know Carrie's kids that well. Carrie and her family live in Federal Way and it is hard to find time to all get together. We decided that we needed a weekend family adventure. Entiat would be our destination. We had an amazing if not slightly exhausting weekend.

Our friend Kim also came along with us. She was competing in one of the events at the Chelan Man, so she spend some of her time in Chelan practicing. I still have a hard time understanding why people do those things for fun, but that is an entirely different post.

We spent our time playing in the water, eating lots of yummy food, jumping around in tents, and trying to get kids to go to sleep so we could have some adult time. The last of which proved to be somewhat of a challenge with all the excitement, and the fact that it was 80 degrees at 8am.

It was great seeing all these kids playing together and interacting. There was Kaden The Wise he is 6 and the oldest. He helped keep all the kids in order. Then there is Mikelle the Silent. She is four. Her mom assures me that she is a chatter box at home, but on the road she was a silent sweetheart. Next is McKenzie the Strong, age 3. I have never met a kid this strong in my life. She can lift things I can barely lift. She can also drag a child in to play with her at will. Next in age is Halle the Lover. Halle is two. I have only met Halle a few time, and I know she doesn't remember me, but that didn't stop the hugs and loves she gave me. Atticus is only three months younger that Halle. Atticus the Wild. He spent most of him time running wild and chasing all the kids. He loved having kids around to play with. The youngest of the group is Ben the Ninja age one. Ben can sneak off with out anyone hearing him. He can also climb to the top of thing you would have never thought could be climbed. It's amazing. All with out making a sound.

It will be so much fun watching all these great kids grow and change. We have decided this Kid Fest will be an annual summer event. I can't wait for all the fun times to come.
