I am not sure what it is, but 5 just seems so big to me. Like little kid is gone and big kid is here. Atticus was pumped about turning 5 and about his party. I should say his birthday week. The week or so leading up to his birthday he told everyone who would listen that he was about to be 5. He explained his birthday is May 14th, but his party would be held May 18th at (Landerholm Park). Followed by, "you can come if you want to."
His actual birthday was special because it fell on a school day. The day started with chocolate chip pancakes, cookies at school and pizza at his favorite restaurant where he orders mac n' cheese. The owner of the restaurant even gave him a free sundae.
We followed that day with more fun. Auntie Lillianna, Liam and Evangeline came over to celebrate since whey would be missing his party. He got a super cool gift that I will explain later, but he was thrilled with it.
Then, Saturday, the big day came. We decided to mix it up a bit this year and have his party at the park. Despite it being a little chilly, it was perfect. The kids had room to run and play, we BBQ'd and I got to leave all the mess behind. I felt like we got to socialize a bit more this way too. Atticus was so pleased with his birthday, he is already planning his next one!
I can't believe he's really 5. When I asked what he was most excited about he said "when I am 5, I can read". He actually woke up on May 14th and wondered why he wasn't able to read yet. He'll be off to school and reading before we know it. Most likely by my next blog post. :)
