A king, his guard, and a Kung Fu Panda. That is what the Landerholm family went as for Halloween. We knew Atticus was going to be Fu Panda back in May, when he got the costume for his birthday. Demian and I were a different story.

Demian was determined to be something that allowed him to wear his fuhr (sp). The fuhr is a Middle Eastern robe that is super warm and comfortable. This left few options. We tossed around the idea of a Shepard, a King, or Lawrence of Arabia. All of which might be costumes in future years. This year he went with King.

I was stuck on the idea of having coordinating costumes. I may never get the entire family to dress up in a theme, especially since I feel like this was the last year I will be choosing Atti's costume for him. But, at least Demian and I can try. Waiting until the last minute I headed to the costume shop in search of something that would go with a king.
First off, I knew Princess was out. I have never been a princess before, but it is just not my style. I learned a little something from this shopping experience. If you are a woman, you have two choices when it comes to store bought costumes. 1) Something bulky or round. Example: M&M, Pumpkin, Banana, Keg of Beer. or 2) A sexy (fill in the blank with anything)....(seriously anything noun will do). I saw sexy nuns, sexy Disney characters, sexy un-dead. I myself was looking for something that did not resemble a stripper outfit. I finally found a Musketeer outfit. It was more of a shirt than a dress, but at least it couldn't be mistaken for lingerie. With one of Atti's swords in hand, I was transformed into a Kings Guard.
Now that we were all dressed up it was time for trick-or-treating. Lillianna, Michael and Evangeline joined us and we headed out into the neighborhood. Although Atticus can clearly say "Trick-or-Treat" and knows the meaning, he refused to say it when we were out. Instead every time someone answered the door he just said "CANDY, CANDY". Sometimes followed by "I just take two".

He also was pumped to give candy out this year. We keep out candy bowl out side because of our crazy dogs, and Atticus stood guard yelling "KIDS, CANDY".
I know he had a great time, because when we got back home, and it was time for Fu Panda to become Atticus again, he kept saying "More Halloween, Please". Yes Atticus, there will be more!
