I love to read, I always have. Now that I have more free time at work, I have been blazing through the books. Considering the rate at which I have been finishing books, and the budget I am on, I was thrilled when I came across this website.
http://www.betterworldbooks.com/
The site sell both new and used books, and donates a portion of the profit to different world literacy programs. They have already raised over 7 million dollars. The new books are about the same price you would pay at Amazon or B&N, but the upside (aside from the charitable donations) is there is no shipping cost in the U.S. Plus, the used books cost around $4. That's better than Half Priced Books. They have a special 5 used books for $15. I love the idea that by purchasing a book I am helping someone learn to read. There are over 6 million titles, so it's not like all you have to chose from are random romance novels and self help books. You can even enter your zip code and get a list of books that came from your local library and then the proceeds will go back to that library. So, if you are in the market for something new to read, check it out!
